This is a very critical time for our school.  Our future is in your hands!  Please consider a tax deductible donation to The Silent Mind Foundation and help us insure we continue our public mission of providing the life-changing benefits of martial art training to our community's children and adults.  Please give generously in this time of need.

coronvirus news and information

4/29/20 - Governor DeWine has started to allow businesses to re-open.  The Silent Mind hopes to re-open for in-studio classes on or soon after May 12th.  A letter will be sent home to all students outlining the strict guidelines we will follow as we re-introduce in-studio classes.  We will maintain our on-line Facebook classes for some time.  In-Studio classes WILL maintain 6-foot social distancing.  Classes WILL be NO CONTACT for now.  Masks WILL be worn by students, instructors, and spectators.  WE ARE ACCEPTING NEW STUDENTS when we re-open our doors.

4/14/20 - We're still closed for in-studio classes.  My hope is we will be allowed to open in some limited way in early May.  Until then, keep up your training with our Facebook Live weekly classes.  Though its not the same as being "on the mat," the classes are informative, get your body moving, and we are still imparting important self-defense knowledge and skills.

3/26/20 - It seems we will be closed at least until 4/12/20.  I believe Governor DeWine will extend that time perhaps until May.  We will re-open as soon as we're permitted, and as soon as it's safe to return to in-studio classes.  Keep up with our emails and check here for up to the minute information.

3/23/20 - Governor DeWine announced yesterday that all non-essential businesses remain closed until Monday 4/6/20.  The Silent Mind will continue to conduct our live on-line Facebook classes until we can return to the school.  Given no one is supposed to travel I've given Joe the OK to teach from home.  For now, he's decided to come to the school, but don't be surprised to see him in his living room in a future live on-line class.

3/18/20 - The Silent Mind will be starting live on-line Facebook classes for its students.  The first classes will begin on Saturday 3/21/20.  Click here for the schedule of live on-line classes.  Students received an email from Sensei with instructions how to join our on-line groups.  There will be on-line classes in Goshin Jujutsu, T'ai Chi Ch'uan, and Yi Ran Dao Kung Fu.

3/16/20 - The Silent Mind will be closed for all classes as of end of business today.  Governor DeWine mandated that all gyms and recreation centers close as of end of business today.  We don't believe the state will specifically close martial art schools, so we choose to group ourselves in the gym/rec center category.  We plan to close for 2 weeks, hopefully re-opening on Monday 3/30/20.  Watch for our emails, and check here for up to the minute news and information about our school and classes.

3/15/20 - Our friends at Relson Gracie Cleveland, our Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu partners, have decided to cease their class offerings for at least the next week.  We will also cancel our Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu classes for at least the next week.  Our Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu students may attend any of our other weekly classes classes if they choose.  We have modified all our classes to be non-contact to minimize the risk of virus transmission.

3/14/20 - The Silent Mind will remain open for all classes during the Coronavirus crisis.  As events develop this may change.  Please watch your email and refer to our website for the most up to date information.

We have beefed up our cleaning protocols at the school.  We have hand sanitizer and equipment sanitizer mat-side for our student's use.  We will be washing our hands before classes begin, and after classes end.  In addition, starting today (3/14), our classes (except for Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu) will be non-contact.  We will maintain a 3 foot distance between students during classes.
